I suspect a large section of the fanbase will still turn on him if he fucks off now so close to the season starting.

And there it is. Here we go confirmed. 100m Euro is about £86m in real money.

4 year deal means he's fully given up on the Premier League all time scoring record.

We were certainly lucky to have him and I think with the direction of the club over the last few years, his departure was always somewhat inevitable but I admit there's a little bit of a sour taste in the mouth over how this has been handled so close to the start of the season.

I do wonder if Levy accepting the bid was more of a result of some late falling out with Kane rather than anything ?.

Anyway, it's over now so onnwards and upwards.

Interesting claim I read earlier that Kane is apparently pushing to start in Bayern's Super Cup match that's scheduled for tomorrow so if it happened, he would basically be winning a trophy less than 24 hours after leaving Tottenham.

Doesn't Ange have a presser today? Could be very interesting.

Reading a lot of this makes me like Ange more and more

Ange Postecoglou on whether he tried to convince Harry Kane to stay:

"I didn't see the point in that [trying to convince Harry Kane to stay], whatever I was going to say was going to irrelevant.

”My feeling was that we'll get to know each other and that would be the best way to navigate the early relationship.””Having said that, in my mind I thought he'd already decided to go after the first conversation. I tried to treat him with the respect his standing deserves.”

”I don't get frustrated by these things. I've been involved in the negotiations side but it's never a simple process. Harry Kane is one of the greats of this football club and there must have been some torment inside.”

”While it would have been great to have it sorted earlier I always through it was going to be borderline. The one thing I was clear on was going into the first game with stuff undecided. It has happened, hopefully we'll have confirmation over the next couple of hours.”

“I don't need assurances. Nothing has changed from when I started. We've had a clear idea about bringing in players to bolster the squad in the right areas. Moving players out is still a big part of what we need to do so we'll see how that unfolds."

And ..

Postecoglou: “It looks like Kane-Bayern is going to happen. So we move forward without Harry. We’ve been planning for this for a while. A lot of our business up until now was with that in mind. It doesn’t change my plans dramatically”.

Apparently the new Captain is going to be named tomorrow as well.

Let the speculation begin…Son, maybe?
If it's him then fine. He's certainly high on the list of many fans with his comments at the start of the window that he wanted to stay at Spurs.

I wouldn't have too much of a problem with Romero either.

No real good candidates for captain. Never have been really. PEH would fit the bill but I don't even know if he's still at the club. Sad to see Harry leave. And four years? Why on Earth? He made the wrong deal imo. Will be very hard to get out of Munich before it expires. He'll probably have to come back to us to try to get the record well past his prime.

He's apparently now been fully cleared to fly to Munich to sign.

This feels very likely TBH. And, sentimental sod than I am, I'd welcome him back in a way I have to admit that I didn't with Bale. I guess it cushions the blow somewhat that he's gone to Bayern. They've been very irritating throughout this process, but at least they're not domestic rivals, and they're not backed by some evil regime. Of course I wasn't saying this a week ago, and it's a thin reed to grasp, but it could be worse. If I had to watch him trot out for Chelsea with Poch as the manager I might just be done with football altogether.

It goes without saying that the money the club get will not be spent wisely, or maybe even on football.

To use a well-worn internet cliche - this. Times about 10.

You'd think that Levy surely must realise he's got to pull something out of the bag with this money if he doesn't want a near riot on his hands at every home game but history tends to tell us that most of it will end up in his back pocket.

Tottenham are expected to make a formal move for Gent striker Gift Orban before the end of the transfer window but the club have prioritised outgoings in the wake of Harry Kane's departure for Bayern Munich.
