Sorry I can’t agree with that about Drags
He had a good game overall and will progress from this with more game time

You could also argue that Kulu Wilson etc and our attack cost us the game with the amount of chances they missed
He also managed an amazing tackle to stop a certain goal.

I agree, the loss was down to not converting the number of chances, just like Leicester.

Especially when you compare last season game at Newcastle where we got tanked and deserved it to yesterday game where we should have picked up all three points

I watched the highlights today and I still can’t understand what Wilson was hoping to achieve when he Kneed ball instead of getting his head on it!

Shows promise though!

I honestly think the last thing young players learn is composure.

Yes agreed

Also I couldn’t help noticing that when we went forward some of our players were virtually standing in the same position
A couple of times Kulu and Madders were very close to each other when one of them received the ball!

We didn't have great chances to convert. A lot of shots easily saved from distance. Newcastle kept us out, we didn't actually score. We didn't keep them out, we left the door wide open.

Wilson’s chance was a good one

Twice Johnson was in the clear on the right but both Sonny and Kulu didn’t pass to him and chose a more difficult option and two clear chances lost

I hope that wasn’t deliberate!

I thought the Odobert chance was a tough one to be fair. But both he and Johnson do a good job of getting to the back post, which is another thing it takes younger players time to learn, I think. Really just lacking a CF to give us a bit more balance up top. I hate this international break so early in the season, but for us it's probably come at the right time.

I haven’t had to put anyone on my ignore list, but now I have. Interestingly, it was a new member. Perhaps we need to vet everyone coming to the site to lurk and post. Maybe make it strictly controlled, like guernsey
What would be the equivalent of Rwanda? A gooner site, I suppose, to go with their shirtsleeves.

Like other forums putting someone on ignore, even if they deserve it, is always a last option especially if they’re a prolific poster because it ruins the flow of threads !

It's weak minded and cowardly to run or hide from confrontation.

I wouldn’t go that far and I’m not having a go at anyone putting another poster on ignore as it’s their choice

Perhaps they find another poster’s style and content annoying?

I don’t agree with announcing it airport style or hinting as to who it might be

Just do it

I agree about not announcing it, it's petty oneupmanship.
My point stands It's weak mentality though although I respect your stance.

I think it’s fine to put people on ignore. Personalities clash and sometimes it’s better just go this way. Seeing back and forth name calling becomes tiresome after a while (although sometimes amusing depending on the creativity of the put down).

Everyone has their preferences. For example, I hate the fact that we have threads on this forum which are about sensitive subjects unrelated to football.

These never end well, cause division and upset. Some people even think they are created just to encourage this regardless of why the thread was posted.

But these type of threads will always appear. So, ignore for me is always the best approach if I believe I cannot hold a decent respectable conversation.

Yes other forums do this with political threads etc
I try and steer clear as it’s usually the same posters regurgitating the same entrenched arguments and quite frankly it’s boring although can get quite nasty!

Some of these keyboard warriors wouldn’t dare say anything like that to someone in public!

Life is tough sometimes, it's no good running away and burying your head in the sand.
I don't like happy, clappy, silly jokey posts. If trying to be funny at least try to go beyond playground level.
I have little respect for a few on here and I make that known, I don't run and hide.

I watched a documentary on Sky the other day about how ships are held together

There are new political issues to talk about right now, it's not boring.

Yes I agree but that wasn’t my point.

It’s about how they are discussed and all too often the same personal arguments between posters who clearly don’t get on that always resurface

Another issue is when we (me included) hijack these threads discussing off topic items. We should move back on topic as it can frustrate other users

This thread is on the Newcastle game.

Start a "I don't run and hide" thread if you want.
Maybe more relevant to your chat.
Check back on the tread, I didn't de-rail it.
Style And Glory made it personal.
US Spurs brought up the ignore function.
Dave also went off topic.
So why direct the accusation to me ? Get your facts right .

Back on topic:

Deki’s quotes from after the game, playing as a striker.

"It was different, of course it's different.
The second half I went back to the midfield where I had much more space and we dominated the game. It was a really good game and I feel very good but I'm not happy we couldn't win the game but we move on and keep our head up."

For me, he has looked our most consistent footballer pre-season and in our first 3 games. He has energy to burn and can link the play well. Although not the quickest, he has good skill to best players. I actually think he may be better in the number 10 role over Maddison currently.

I agree with Deki being quite successful & convincing in his new role. I firmly believe that he is our most effective player against the low bock & in tight quarters. Retains the ball well all while drawing attention & releasing the ball to others.

Bravo to Ange for recognizing & implementing this.

I rate Kulu as a versatile player but I don't know his best position. When Solanke and Richi are fit,,,where does he fit in ?

I like the fluid 3/4 up top, with players switching zones at will. But that's just because I like that kind if thing. I'm forced to admit it hasn't brought results, howe er vociferously they're promised by all and sundry. So maybe a more standard trident once Solanke's back. Maddison and/or Deki tucked in behind. But as off the boil as he has been of late, I still think Maddison's ceiling is higher.
