Currently in charge of Eintracht Frankfurt apparently.

Read something earlier that suggested we could wait until the end of the season on the possibility that Julian Nagelsmann might become available if Bayern don't win the title .. but ...

Sound familiar ? 🤣

Pass on Nagelsmann. Guy has been exposed at Bayern as lacking composure. They may very well win the Bundesliga and CL but it will be in spite of Nagelsmann, not because of him.

Who says Levy hasn't matured?

The man who sacked Jol at HT of a uefa cup game, has taken 48 hours to sack Conte here!

I suppose you have to think that if Mason is indeed appointed until the end of the season then it almost certainly means it won't be Poch, Tuchel or even Enrique as they're all available immediately.

I can just picture this scene though of Levy sitting in his office with a puzzled look on his face. The window is open and he can hear the fans chanting for Pochettino. The TV is on Sky Sports and they're discussing the pros and cons of Pochettino returning and Levy's thinking "Aw man, this is too hard. Who should I appoint ?" 🤣

Fuck knows who'll be appointed. It all comes down to who'll be willing to work with Levy. Take Levy out of the equation and its a very attractive job, but with him, its a massive risk to anyone wanting to maintain a good reputation.
Poch is the only one that fits the bill for Levy imo ...its win win for him whether he's a success or not. But will it happen ? I doubt it.

Get the impression something might happen before the day is out so fingers crossed.

The Guardian seem to think that the managers who are currently available immediately would prefer to assume the position before pre-season so Mason getting the job until the end of the season may not be an indicator of anything if that’s the case.

If we fire Conte and appoint Mason I'm done. No offense to him, but he is not going to push us over the top to finish in the CL places. Conte may be an ass, but we'd have a much better chance with him in charge. It would be like firing Mourinho right before a cup final and having a novice take the helm. Levy would never do that! The only way you fire Conte now is to appoint Poch or Tuchel. Otherwise, what is the point? Oliver Glassner? Just give Conte what he wants and you wouldn't have these problems. He may be a fine coach, but Oliver Glassner ain't fixing this.

Levy lives in a fucking echo chamber...

None of this matters a single bit... whoever, and I mean whoever, is stupid enough to agree to work under the deranged pip squeek, they will simply be cannon fodder protecting him from blame by Uncle Joe and the board when it goes tits up again. Because it will, in a relatively short period of time.

Damian Camoli, Steve Hitchin. Patrici may well be next in line for the chop after Jol, Redknap, AVB, Poch, That Cunt, Folded Arms Guy, Conté.

I'm so bored of this ride now...

The reality is that no one wants to work with this club... Folded Arms Guy was 4th choice last time and Conté was basically begged by Levy it would seem...

I started to type best we can hope for... and then changed my mind because I don't know whats best...

Best, in my head is 80% of the squad being replaced with good players. Not seeing Kane roll out in a Madrid or Utd strip next season. With a manager who actually likes football and maybe on occasion tries to not bore the opposition to death and tries to score a goal or two. Best, would be not being the fucking laughing stock of English football while our neighbours reap the rewards of backing their manager to build a fresh young exciting squad, while apparently winning the league and other trophies...

Best... pah, not while that bald cunt is alive and has a fetishis for super yachts, the customers won't even see best.

Some of the gossip doing the rounds this afternoon implies that a number of the names spoken about do have concerns over how the club is run.

Poch, however, has apparently indicated that he wants to come back and will take the job if offered.

Obviously take that with a big pinch of salt.

The club is also supposedly negotiating compensation deals with Conte and six of his staff so a clearing of the decks does seem to be on.

Why would we need to compensate Conte and his staff? Their contracts expire in June. We're talking about a couple of more pay checks. Pay them for the year and be done with it! It's not like there's 5 freaking years remaining on the contract. Levy is taking cheap and petty to an extraordinary level.

If this is true, which I honestly wouldn’t put it past the club, then it honestly makes me dislike Conte even more, especially when you consider all the extra work Danjuma has put in trying to impress him.

Some--I believe including Alastair Gold--are reporting that Poch and some of the other candidates might take persuading, even though they're not in a job currently. Surely Poch would want a lot on-paper assurances from the club, and I'd think the very presence of Paratici would be a problem for him. Of course, I desperately want him back.

Putting two and two together to make 5 here: Conte is done, but the club are waiting to see if they can get a permanent replacement in. If they can't before the international break is over, or maybe even in the next few days, they'll name Mason interim. And IMO he ought to be given a fair crack at the permanent job if it goes that way, though he's close with Poch and would probably be a member of his staff.

Whatever happens, it's been pretty clear that Tony wouldn't be returning after this season for a long time now, and honestly it would be gross dereliction of their jobs if Levy and co hadn't sent out feelers to various candidates. Even they aren't that incompetent.

Diplomatic but interesting response from PEH here:

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg says he wishes Antonio Conte had been more open and “precise” in his communication with the Tottenham squad as he reflected on the manager’s outburst that appears to have made his position at the club untenable.

Conte laid into the players after Saturday’s 3-3 draw at Southampton, calling them “selfish” and questioning their mentality, the frustrations that have simmered during an erratic season boiling over in spectacular fashion. Spurs have started to check the market for the Italian’s successor, a sign that they are ready to accelerate his departure. Previously he had been expected to leave at the end of the season upon the expiry of his contract.

Rúben Amorim has his admirers on the Spurs board although the Sporting manager might be difficult to prise away at this stage of the season, particularly as he has a Europa League quarter-final against Juventus next month. Amorim would be interested in the role but would be expensive to recruit. His release clause is €20m. It will drop to €15m in the summer.

Vincent Kompany, who has Burnley on the brink of promotion back to the Premier League, is another name of interest. Ryan Mason, one of Conte’s assistants, could step up as a caretaker until the end of the season, as he did following José Mourinho’s dismissal in April 2021.

Højbjerg has become the first Spurs player to speak in public about the unfolding crisis. His tone was sympathetic towards Conte, a manager who has been good for him, but he did suggest that he ought to have explained himself more clearly to the players. It is understood that many of Højbjerg’s teammates would be happy if Conte was to leave.

“I understand that if you want to be successful as a team, you need 11 men who are committed to a project and a culture,” Højbjerg said, as he prepared for Denmark’s Euro 2024 qualifiers against Finland and Kazakhstan. “But I think he has to elaborate on how he feels before you as a player can start measuring and weighing.”

Asked if Conte was right to launch his tirade, Højbjerg said: “Fortunately, I am not the one to judge it. If that’s how he sees it, then you have to be a little more precise in order for you as a player to take it to heart. But it is clear that you work with each other every day, you want the best for each other, and you want to be successful together. And sometimes the waves go high in football.”

Spurs have endured a series of demoralising defeats since the restart after the World Cup, most recently the Champions League last-16 exit against Milan and the FA Cup loss at Sheffield United. The dropped points late on at Southampton – Spurs had been 3-1 up with 13 minutes to play – felt like the final straw for Conte.

Makes me dislike Paratici more than Conte.

Why sign a bloke who doesn't fit the needs of the squad and loan out Gil especially without consulting the manager?

Eeerm... this has been the Spurs way for forever..

Buy promising talent relatively cheap, play it for a bit and then sell it in order to wipe its nose and end up with either a net gain or zero sum loss...

Problem is Conté is devaluing this process by sticking to his guns and not shoe horning them into the match day squad...

Patrici is here to make money for himself, his interests/contacts, Levy and the football is a distant consideration...

There's far too many managers at the club. Get rid of the fucking suits and have the gaffer and only the gaffer buy, sell or loan the players that HE and he alone chooses..That's it. It's not rocket science. Too many trying to interfere with on field matters.

Hearing that compensation is being worked out today.

Compensation for what? Being a cunt, airing our dirty laundry in public and being delinquent in his job?

Fuck me, Conte is not much more than a grifter.

Tuchel is getting a lot of favourable comments at the moment. Apparently he grew up a Spurs fan as well so I expect that could smooth any potential appointment to a degree.

Many comments along the lines of if he signs a 3 or 4 year deal and is vocal about committing for the long term and rebuilding then they'd be happy with that, especially if Poch doesn't come back.

But then I read one comment that said that the fans would almost immediately be willing to give Poch all the time he'd need to sort things out but that anyone else would probably be under pressure almost immediately and that's probably not that far from the truth i'd say.

Agree wholeheartedly. Still unsure about the second coming (as much as I want to see that smile again) but Tuchel is only going to end in heartbreak. Just like the last two CCs (Nuno gets a pass),you know what's coming, but it's still very unpleasant when it does.

I think that's something someone said about Mourinho at ManU, but I think that's the loked-in teo-year trajectory for TT, no matter who he supported as a boy.

Hard pass on Tuchel.

I don't like him, and even though it's probably simplistic for this footballing era, I just don't want another ex-Chelsea man in the dugout, especially not if Poch was available.

I can think of three reasons why this is taking so long.

1) Paratici is also on his way out and the club are negotiating his pay-off so a complete clearing of the decks can be announced at the same time.

2) They’re negotiating with the new manager so that they can announce Conte’s departure and his replacement.

3) Both of the above.
