I wouldn't call it total bollocks as it was coming from a few special forces individuals over a cup of English tea...
I guess others have different perceptions of their experiences. The lives of the troops doing as instructed on both sides and I believe not all out war with a regime which is vastly different to ours but to abide by common human respect for the right to have rights. Not a totalitarian rule of the "raghead".
Who will they turn to for help in restoring their way of life ? My guess it will be the outside world,
Fuck them and fuck the cunts in boats in the channel, you want emigrate to the UK then fine but to claim asylum from France.... keep rowing.

We have a responsibility as Humans..... to ensure people live humanely.....

The Taliban are not interested in humanity. They are interested in ideology, power and control.

And just because the Afghan people don't know anything better than a totalitarian regime of fear and oppression, doesn't mean they don't deserve the right to have a choice of something different to that.

How long is long enough...? Until the job is fucking done... properly...!

I personally think this is as bad as anything Blair or Trump ever did... this is cowardly. This is making a political statement with innocent peoples lives.

That was a smart move by the Argies to allow that to happen and start a war.

why can't we all just mind our own business

i dont give a fuck about anyone in the middle east nations. we should never have gone in. how many lives lost in 20 years? how much money pissed away? ridiculous.

The US has never minded it’s own business.

And it’s not especially interested in cleaning up it’s own mess either.

I’d like to know what the fuck they were doing in Afghanistan for the last 20 years. It certainly wasn’t ensuring that the Taliban couldn’t rise again. And then they just fucked off, leaving their “friends” to perish. Two fucking weeks is all it took for these savages to get control of the place.

Fuck me dead.

I don't know why we insist on being the world's police when we cannot figure our own shit (policing, health care, homelessness / poverty, etc) out.

What were we doing this whole time? Ask GW Bush. Ask Obama.

Bush took us there. Obama kept us there. Trump probably didn't know we were over there because he's an idiot.

Fault lies on both sides of the aisle, but lies squarely with the US government.

Really nice. How many innocent lives will be lost now in Afghanistan and the neighbouring countries now you have decided you don't have any responsibility for them? How many people will die because Afghanistan will become the centre of excellence for terrorist training and arming? How many child 'brides' will be raped because you don't give a fuck? How much money will you save and how happy will you be that it's all happening far away and you can ignore it?

You don't give a fuck about vulnerable people in middle East nations, as long as all the bad stuff is happening somewhere else in the world and not the fucking cesspit of greed you live in, you will be happy, Well fuck you.

Why waste money on sick, disabled, mentally ill people or bother with laws to protect the vulnerable? Fuck those cunts, they're not you and those ragheads were not born on the same bit if mud as you, so why give a fuck about them?

Rich, advanced countries have a responsibility to developing countries, ignore that and enjoy the fucking consequences. You think you are special because you were lucky enough to be born where you were and every other cunt in the. world is not as good as you and does not deserve your money or your protection. I know many ex- servicemen who are sickened by the way your country, followed by the UK lapdog have thrown the Afghans to the Taliban wolves. They lost friends and were maimed doing a job they cared deeply about - protecting the innocent, allowing women to be in control of their lives and trying to help build a better life for their fellow human beings and you don't give a fuck, you got Bin Laden, you got Saddam and fuck everybody else.

Fuck you.

Lots to unpack here.

I guess we will go by paragraphs?

1) There is no impact on how I feel about the situation that will affect anything.
1b) We spent ~$2T in the last 20 years. Why couldn't we have spent that on the poor, homeless, mentally ill, hungry, un-educated, etc in America before trying to fix another country's problem?

2) I would prefer we focus on fixing our own nation's issues before we decide to go elsewhere and try to fix them.

3) I don't consider spending money on sick, disables, mentally ill people a waste of money. Nor do I consider spending money on the vulnerable a waste. As I stated above, I would prefer we focus on fixing our own nation's issues before we decide to go elsewhere and try to fix them.

4) I feel terribly for all people and families who have lost lives due to our involvement in the middle east. I feel badly about the lives that will continue to be affected. God willing people that don't want to be there get out through whatever avenue works best for them.

I don't think it's America's job to police the world... its their responsibility as a developed nation along with all other developed nations to ensure tyranny is not endured. There's some line about tyranny in your precious constitution if I remember correctly...

We, the UK, can't bash America when we have been happy to be led round by the neck by them over the last 20 years+... we're just as guilty of cowardice as they are.

Europe are a fucking joke... peace keepers... Fuck off.

Build a European Army to police the world including cunts like America, China and Russia.

Afghans may not have wanted change.... because they've never had an opportunity for it.

Just because a dog is kicked every fucking day of its life since birth, does it make it OK to keep kicking the poor fucker...?

No, it doesn't.

The right thing to do is to stop the evil cunts kicking the dog and show the dog it was mistreated, abused and it deserves better. It's to educate the dog that kicking dogs isn't right and that it should have the conviction to stand up for its self and it's other doggy friends against all the evil cunts who kick dogs. It should be shown that as dogs you have the right to choose how you want to live and that your rights should be respected...

It shouldn't be to shown that being kicked to fuck is wrong, abhorrent and a glimmer of what life is like without being kicked half to death every day and then sent back to the evil kicking cunts to finish and do worse for hoping that you weren't going to be booted into fucking oblivion every day of your fucking life...!

Anyone who thinks that this makes them safer, that "problems" at home are now somehow going to get better is absofucking lutely deluded...

I am not trying to police this debate but let's try not to be cunts to each other. Unless you give me just cause and then your game...!!! 😉

There's a lot of ideological daylight between an activist foreign policy and an isolationist one.

There are both cunts and angels who think they can fix everything, everywhere, and which category they fall into largely depends on what they think "fixed" is.

There are both angels and cunts who reckon the best thing is to stay out of it all, and which category they fall into largely depends on whether they're thinking "I got mine Jack" or whether they think the great unwashed might be better off without the help they're able to provide (hint: drone attacks and assassinations might not do it).

Am I going to tell my son not to give some spare change to the dude who clearly slept rough last night? No. Am I gping to let him believe that'll get him a room? Again, no.

Not really trying to avoid picking sides here, just submitting the idea that the question we've stumbled on might be a bit broad for incisive commentary.

i don’t understand how trying fix our own problems before trying to fix another country’s problems is a bad thing?
It isn't a bad thing, but we're never going to do it - there is no political will and we all know it. We'd rather have tax cuts and mumble stuff about self-reliance, family, the power of faith etc..

Why we stayed so long in Afghanistan is very much up for debate, but to suppose the money would have been spent on domestic social programs instead is quite a reach.

.... and fuck you too. Do you think those conscripts were given a choice or the people in the boats you despise so much had much of a choice? Stay home and die or risk some xenophobic cunt posting even more bollocks on a forum. I stick by my assessment of 'bollocks' as most of my friends are ex-forces, many of them have children and grandchildren still serving and I have had actual real-life telephone conversations with four of these chaps who have actually been on active duty in Afghanistan, and their overwhelming opinion and that of their colleagues is that they were not there to fight a war, which would in any sane person's mind be unwinnable in Afghanistan, but to protect the innocent - and they are sickened by the US decision to hand the country over to the fucking Taliban, after wasting the lives of so many service people. They knew that the Afghan army was not ready or willing to fight, the US and UK Army leadership knew this, the US government knew this, the UK government knew this but they still threw the millions of non-military, non-government, non-extremist civilians under the Taliban bus.

Yes yes I do believe they had a choice…
you have a choice to live under a government that expects conscription or leave the country if you feel that strongly against it. You also have a choice to settle in various safe countries on your pursuit of a safe heaven from potential harm in your own, you also have a choice not to pay for illegal entry via the channel.
In regards to serving or ex serving hero’s perspectives…..I don’t doubt any views of what those individuals thoughts are as they had the experience of seeing 1st hand the differences they made. I was repeating the view of a conversation.

Couldn't the unlucky ones leave Argyland prior to there 21st birthday to miss the lottery and rebuild there lives in another land, Chile/Uruguay or Paraguay, or hide.

Couldn't the illegal immigrants find a safe haven closer to there starting point instead of traveling miles to an island which they had no rights to rock up illegally ? Surly there was one country they passed through that would of suited there needs.
It's tough to be so flippant over something i have not experienced myself and i would welcome to hear their reasoning.

Apologies, I think we are at cross purposes. I meant Afghanis. There was mention of Argentinians in an earlier post but I took that to be a typo since it was so far out of context. No wish to rehash the Falklands crisis...learnt my lesson when I got thumped by an ex-soldier in a pub in Bayswater for mouthing off about pacifism the day HMS Sheffield got hit. I had it coming I think, artsy student know-it-all that I was.

They'll just grab an Uber...

Its OK, the Taliban will probably process their migration paperwork according to Sharia law in the same way they plan to manage women's rights in line with Sharia law...

The countries receiving them also won't have preconceived ideas about who they're getting and will be happy to add them to their own problems in one of the most troubled corners of the globe...

It'll be fine...

Nasty Tory cunts will always use the tax that hits the lower paid harder. This so-called 1.25% rise is in fact over 20% - the current rate is 12% paid by employee and employer, so .... do the riffmatic. Earnings over £50,268 only get 'taxed' by NI at fucking 2%. The UK Corporation tax - which the fucking cunt chancellor said was going up is only 19%, 5% lower than the World average. The cunts could have applied the full NI 12% to earnings over £50k, they could have increased the Higher rate tax to 45% and the super tax rate to 50% or increased Corporation tax - but that would have upset the wealthy cunts and their mates, who would not have noticed this evil fucking tax rise nearly as much as the people who are struggling to make it to their next pay day. Small businesses that want to employ people will think twice about another 10% on their NI tax - yeah it is a fucking tax, calling it insurance is just a devious way of pretending it's not.

The capital gains tax in the UK is only 20% one of the lowest in Europe - that makes sure that the rich cunts can carry on making millions on their property portfolios and investments while normal working people can't even afford to pay the rent to these blood sucking cunts.

Brexit eh? £350m a week for the NHS - why don't they use that money? What a total fuckup, they are going to have to increase more taxes and break more manifesto promises to make up for the billions of lost revenue because companies that want to survive are moving to the EU and exports are disappearing as quickly as a Tory promise.

Everybody in the UK who is not minted is being fucked up the arse by this corrupt Tory government, how fucking long will it take before they fucking realise it? Surely not everyone in the country is a Brexit retard who thinks that incompetent cunt of a PM is doing a good job because 'he got it done'.

Cunts, cunts, cunts! Oooh look we are being so nice and applying an £86,000 lifetime care cost cap says the lying, megarich, scum, cunt so-called health secretary, so you'll only have to pay that. OK, it's a lot of money, but imagine if you in you dodderyness or your mum needs 20 years of care that's not much BUT, that £86,000 does NOT include luxuries like accomodation or food! The average cost of care home accomodation in the UK is £704 a fucking week.

Why the fuck are the UK citizens putting up with this corrupt bunch of cunts trying to make themselves and their mates richer by making you poorer? 2 more years before I can apply for Spanish citizenship, I am fucking ashamed to be a citizen of a country that voted for these cunts and does fuck all to stop their Police state controlling elections by banning demonstrations, voter id stopping millions of people voting, maintaining the FPTP system so they will be in control for fucking ever and the open, massive corruption from ministers downwards that people seem to just accept as part of the Tory deal.

Hundreds dying every day, tens of thousands of new C19 cases every day, labour shortages threatening to totally fuck up the economic recovery and cause serious shortages, nurses being given 3% then having that stolen back in evil NI rise - then losing 4% because of inflation, a totally fucking stupid imbecile being appointed as foreign secretary threatening the security of the country, yeah, so what? Boris is bringing back pints, pounds and ounces. The Torygraph herald this as a 'Brexit Triumph!', what the actual fuck? Anybody who suggests that the imperial system is not a million % worse than the metric system is a twat of the highest order. Kids and most adults can't even understand the extremely simple decimal system, how the fuck will they cope with 16 ounces in a groat, 16 pounds in a knobbin and fuck knows how many stones in a grobble?

The Brexitards are getting very desperate if they call this a triumph, and so they should be because there are no fucking benefits to Brexit.

KARMA!

Farage whingeing about the petrol shortages - caused entirely by his Brexit, then he gets hit by a hero van driver!

The government tell us that the fuel crisis is easing… I went to 7 petrol stations this morning and there was no fuel at any of them. Was then hit by a van whilst stationary at a roundabout. Great start to the day!
