Here's my take on this. You just let Saudi Arabia buy a Premiere League club. How on Earth do you then go an hammer City when this stuff is going to be common course going forward? I think a fine, a small points reduction, and maybe some mean words. They'll look like hypocrites if they slam City now. It's their own damn fault for letting countries own clubs in the first place.
I know what you mean, but these are documented instances of willful financial wrongdoing over more than a decade. If they get away with it, then there are literally no rules. It’s not just sovereign funds—clowns like Boehly will do exactly the same thing if they aren’t already.

I think they are all already doing it. City just had the misfortune of getting hacked. I'd love it if they get slammed, but the FA is really walking a fine line here. There's a reason UEFA kicked the can on this one. But anything to help our top 4 odds this season.:)

UEFA banned them, the decision was overturned by the CAS. Totally agree that other clubs are very likely doing it, or some version of it, but its a bit like the guy who gets pulled over for doing 120 MPH in a 55 zone claiming to be singled out because the coppers aren't getting everyone who's speeding.

What I'm wondering is if other clubs, including THFC, won't look to take legal action kind of like Sheffield United did over Mascherano and Tevez. Assuming City admit guilt or are found guilty of course.

That'd undermine the master plan of a European super league...!

Goals scored 8
Goals conceded 40

Had he taken over a month earlier they'd be relegation fodder. Pity.
Apparently there's actually still a scenario where they could be relegated this season. It's very unlikely as I think it would, at least, need Brentford to beat Man City but it's apparently still mathematically possible.

But Lampard's record as a manager is quite astonishing really. He might get a job in a lower league side or abroad but I'd be utterly amazed if any club in the Premier League or Championship even considers him.

I don't usually agree with the "agenda for/against" certain clubs, but he definitely has his pals among ex-players in the media, and he is getting pretty soft treatment where others would be crucified.

On a different not, just now seeing that fat Sam is being brought in at Leeds, and that he stands to make a killing if they stay up. They are not in the relegation spots now, so it's mathematically possible that Leeds could get thrashed in all their games for the rest of the season and Sam would still trouser a massive bonus. You can't make this shit up.

Yeah I read he's on a £2.5 million bonus if he keeps them up which is insane.

We play them on the final day so I imagine if they need a result to stay up, we'll probably end up obliging.

City now have three games to secure the win they need for the title.

As shit as this season has been, watching Arsenal bottle it - properly bottle it - has been glorious :)

I generally don't really care what they do, and I don't, but we've had to put up with their fans saying for years that we "bottled" the title and "came 3rd in a 2-horse race" in the season were Leicester won the league.

We were top for probably about two weeks back then and Arsenal have been top almost the whole season this year and, at one point, were 13 points clear with a game in hand so, for me, I think it's pretty clear who the bottlers really are and I'm not going to feel bad about seeing their fans get a taste of their own medicine.

There's plenty of merit to what Clemmy is saying. That's a substantial lead to irrepressibly excrete out your backside.

I'm sorry but how is this right ?? Ok, he breached betting rules and was rightly punished.. but 8 months ?? Tough on Brentford, as they've done nothing wrong yet their prize asset is gone until Feb 2024.
When that scumbag Suarez racially abused Evra and allegedly others he got banned for just 8 GAMES!..yet Toney gets 8 months for breaching betting rules. Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending him but is that punishment not a bit much ?
Anyway, it's a shame. What he did was wrong but if right was right and all bans were relative to the crime then Suarez should've got 8 years.

Hope the lad bounces back.

Brentford themselves not only have a betting shirt sponsor, but are owned by a guy who made his killing in the betting industry. The hypocrisy is breathtaking, even if it’s predictable.

Well, it's now official

We may be Spursy but...

...The Dual Assholes (ArseAnal) have been crowned "The Epitome of Exceptional Bottlers".

Squandered a 13 point lead & a game in hand to kiss the title goodbye.
And ManC wins it with 3 games to play lol

A mere consolation for our poor season.

Well two out of Leicester, Everton and Leeds go down on Sunday and they're all playing at home.

If Everton win then the other two games are irrelevant, but if they don't, or at least get a point then Leicester and Leeds need to win to survive and we are at Elland Road for that one which won't be pretty.

I'd like to see Everton & Leicester go down.
The downside is that would mean Leeds beats us but... ...isn't that a given the way we play?

They are terrible, and they would be in very deep shit financially if they went down and don’t come right back up. One year away from their new £700 million stadium. I don’t think a home date with Plymouth or Rotherham is how they’ll want to open it.

With Brighton holding City to a draw tonight and confirming their place in the Europa League, it's going to make for an interesting final day.

It means if Villa beat Brighton then they would take the Europa Conference League spot even if we beat Leeds.

But if Brighton beat Villa then we would need at least a point against Leeds to take the ECL spot ourselves.

This is against a Leeds side playing at home who need to win and hope Everton lose to stay up.

But if Everton get a point, Leeds would then need to win by 4 clear goals to stay up.

I still can't see us winning at Elland Road but with the prospect of at least some European competition next season, would even that be enough to give them a kick up the arse ?
